Senegal Children’s Center For Abandoned and Orphan Children
As of 2021, Senegal is still battling a major child security problem. The number of poor people, particularly in rural areas in Senegal is significantly high. As the poverty rates in these areas increase the number of abandoned children increases. According to research, an estimate of 100,000 Senegalese children roams the streets, begging for money and food. Approximately 520,000 Senegalese children are orphans, most of which are children with mental/ physical disabilities. Due to lack of proper care, 20% of these children who are under five suffer from malnutrition. As a foundation, we understand that this problem cannot be fixed overnight, but we want to start by being a pillar of hope for these children. We believe that all children should have adequate access to food, shelter, and the basic necessities they need to live a healthy and meaningful life. We have started taking donations for the construction of our first child center, vision is to build children centers in West African countries to house abandoned children ages 0-5 years old. Our centers will be a safe place for children to express themselves and be themselves. Our hope is to build our first center in Senegal, this orphanage will provide 30 children ages 0-5 with a place to call home. With Senegal’s ongoing child security battle, this center will serve as a safe haven for all children.
